Info:      1957-59 Vintage Gretsch 6196 Country Club Cadillac Green My father purchased this Cadillac Green Country Club Gretsch for me when I was in High school in the late 50′s.  I don’t play anymore and would like to sell it, but I am not sure about the year.  It has never been out of my possession and has never had any work done on it since I owned it.  The serial number is 32704 which should indicate 1959. But it has humptop inlays and deArmond pickups that apparently indicate 1957 or early 1958.  I was in my early teens and cannot remember the exact year.  I do remember that the guitar dealer (and also my teacher) in Newark, NJ replaced the Gretsch tail piece with a Bigsby at my request.  I have the original Gretsch Guarantee (pic below) and the original chrome tailpiece with “G”.  The overall condition is excellent.  It has always been stored in the original hard case in an air conditioned environment with strings loosened. Original four knobs lost their gold sheen so I recently replaced them with matching new ones.  Original knobs, guarantee papers, original tail piece and case included with purchase.  Pickup plates show some tarnishing and fading (see pics).  Frets, paint, Bigsby and neck alignment are all excellent.  The original case is structurally sound but shows some wear, no key and latch spring broken.  I am missing one tu ner knob and two screws. Also, there is overspray inside the body that can be seen through the f-holes.  The serial number Gretsch sticker is on top of the overspray.  If you have concerns about the year or overspray issues please go to: Gretsch-talk.com  and look for my May 13th thread: “Model 6196 Cadillac Green- Help with Year??” under the Vintage Gretsch Discussion topic.  Several experts on vintage Gretsch Country Clubs offer their insight within this thread. As you can see, it is in great condition considering it’s 51+ years old. There are a few strap marks as you could see in picture’s, I didn’t doctor them up like most of the pros on ebay do.
